Tom
Wang – Tom is an incredibly versatile performer who has been working
in the entertainment industry for nearly 30 years. He has been
seen/heard by literally millions of people since he began performing in
school, church and community productions at the age of six in his
hometown, near Cleveland, OH. Tom enrolled as a
theatre/communications major at the University of Akron in the fall
of 1982. After that, he attended The Ohio School of Broadcast Technique,
earned his broadcast license and worked as a radio/club disc jockey
until spring, 1997. A member of the American Federation of Television
and Radio Artists (AFTRA) since 1994, he has received many
voice-over jobs. Tom is an award-winning actor who’s appeared in
numerous theatrical productions. He has also worked on Hollywood,
independent and industrial films, as well as national, regional and
local television commercials since joining the Screen Actors Guild
(SAG) in 1998.
Following Tom’s last full-time radio position in Cleveland (DJ with a
Marconi Award winning jazz station), he contracted work with Sea World
of Ohio (later Six Flags) as a park announcer. In addition to
working on stage with water-skiing, gymnastics/diving, dog and bird
shows, he wrote, directed and produced some of the park’s
featured entertainment. Tom has represented several international
corporations (i.e. Burger King, Hitachi, Garmin, Blue Cross/Blue Shield,
Sanyo, Kirby Vacuum Cleaners and Sherwin–Williams) as a spokesperson.
He has worked as a facilitator, leading training sessions for
sales, administrative and acting groups across the United States. From
1998 until 2008, Tom worked as a product specialist/narrator on
the North American Auto Show circuit.
On top of these credentials, Tom loves to sing and has a strong tenor
range. He’s been the featured vocalist in musicals,
weddings, receptions, rock bands, choirs, clubs and a barbershop quartet
during the last three decades. For over five years, Tom shared lead
vocalist duties with the acclaimed musical group, The Hooligans.
In addition, he worked as the band’s manager, booking over 300
performances from 1997 until 2003. In the summer of 2009, Tom enjoyed
playing principle roles in two musical productions (High School Musical
& All Shook Up) at the Broadway Theatre of Pitman (NJ).
In recent months, Tom has appeared several times on the home shopping
network, QVC, dabbled in set construction & carpentry,
performed some of his stand-up comedy, took part in a photo
session for Hershey Park, and twice enjoyed being Master of
Ceremonies for recitals on the stage of World Café Live in
Philadelphia. About a year ago, Tom embarked on two exciting projects.
First, he directed & performed in the world premiere of the
(recent) award-winning, children’s musical, It’s Not Mean To Be Green.
Second, Tom began working with a local radio station in his hometown of
West Chester, PA, where he hosted & produced his own two-hour
music program, Wang’s World, The Wake Up With Wang Morning Show and
Lunch with the Legends.
